State-of-the-art Treatment and Rehab Center Opens in Titletown

Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine & Orthopedics is a 55,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art treatment and rehab center located in the heart of Packers country. In the shadow of Lambeau Field, it is home to one of the country’s leading sports medicine and orthopedic care teams.

The facility specializes in injury prevention, performance improvement, as well as treatment and therapy for injuries. It offers the most advanced diagnostic equipment available, including X-ray, lab, MRI, and motion analysis labs with high-speed video technology.

The Bellin clinic is decidedly not a traditional healthcare facility. First impressions from the atrium are of a welcoming social space that feels more collegiate or corporate lobby in its design. Packers history is on display to inspire and engage patients, featuring artifacts from the Packer Hall of Fame on a rotating basis.

The waiting area is divided into two separate spaces where seating is anything but prescriptive. “With pockets of varied spaces and various seating options, patients and visitors can simply choose the spots they’re most comfortable in,” explained Nancy Widi, Senior Interior Designer, Somerville Architects & Engineers who used the Affina line for the variety of guest chairs, lounge seating, low-top tables and high-top tables that accommodate mobile devices.

I enjoy working with KI because of the wide variety of seating options.

The clinic contains two floors with the first designated as entirely clinic space. The second level is dedicated to evaluation, physical therapy and performance improvement. It includes a gymnasium, complete with basketball court, football turf, free weights and equipment and a running track.

Impressive two-story windows overlook Lambeau Field and incorporate natural light throughout. Other key principles of active design help get patients back in the game:

  • Daylight is implemented via the two-story atrium, bringing inherent health benefits.
  • A variety of communal and flexible multi-use spaces are found throughout.
  • A centrally located and visually appealing staircase stands central to reception, encouraging the use of stairs over elevators.
  • Face-to-face communications are encouraged with plenty of open spaces that inspire movement and collaboration.
  • Height-adjustable worksurfaces allow staff to alternate between sitting and standing during the workday.

Through a series of dynamic spaces, Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine & Orthopedics is boldly changing patient expectations. Through its team-based care it is also changing patient outcomes.

Team based care is an important element of the model of care delivered here.

Designing the team-based model of care was initiated when Somerville staff job-shadowed doctors to determine how they would navigate throughout the facility. The result is now physicians, team care coordinators, and nurses all sharing the same workspaces. The arrangement enhances communication, bolsters collaborative care and allows for a truly patient-centric approach, all of which were strongly supported with attentive design and thoughtful furniture solutions.

“With this facility, we are expanding and enhancing our ability to provide the same high-quality care to members of the public as we do professional athletes, including the Green Bay Packers,” said George Kerwin, Bellin Health president and CEO. “This is a reflection of Bellin and the Packers’ commitment to the community and our shared desire to make this a better and healthier place to live.”
